IVAN ROHOZKA

Rohožka, Ivan (1926-?) – Master Guitar Maker

Born on December 22, 1926, in Sisak (Yugoslavia), Ivan Rohožka trained with his father in crafting tambourine instruments, guitars, and mandolins. In 1948, he moved to Luby near Cheb, joining the Cremona plant. Due to his expertise, he became a vocational training master at the Lubsk Apprentice School in 1951, mentoring over 100 aspiring luthiers in 13 years.

Working closely with master violin makers, he refined his craft, eventually specializing in Spanish guitar construction. Initially inspired by Anton and Franz Mettal, he later developed his own model, blending visual elegance with tonal perfection. Rohožka collaborated with leading guitarists, leaving a lasting impact on the art of guitar making.
