Maria Torres
Handcrafted in Spain,
created in Amsterdam.
High-end classical and flamenco guitars, built by hand in Spain from only noble woods and set up by us in our Amsterdam shop.
Why our guitars carry my name
When Ahmad and I started dreaming about our own guitar, the idea was simple. We wanted to bring guitars to Amsterdam that are handcrafted in Spain, of the very best quality you can find, and still keep them at a fair price, because you get them directly from us, with nobody in between.
We are guitarists first. We know what it feels like to build a relationship with your guitar, so we build instruments with a focus on sound, playability and solid construction.
We love music, and we love the guitar deeply; by now it's our life and our whole world. That's what we wanted these guitars to be: a companion for life.
And the name? Maria Torres is my name. It's a very classical Spanish name, and putting it on the headstock felt like the most natural way to link these guitars to my roots, and to the tradition they come from.

Maria Torres 3A
€895
Solid cedar top · solid mahogany back & sides · 65 cm scale · 51 mm nut
Our most accessible Maria Torres, and still fully solid wood. Built in our workshop in Spain with a traditional Spanish construction, it has a warm, rich sound with deep, resonant basses and clear, singing trebles. Comfortable to play, with a low action of about 3.2 mm at the 12th fret that we can set even lower if you like. A fully solid, Spanish-made guitar under €1,000 is rare, which makes this the best guitar a student can start on.

Cedar or spruce?
- Canadian cedar
- Most classical players choose cedar for its warm, sweet tones: colours, sustain, a rich sound, harmonies and overtones.
- German spruce
- A faster response with clear, precise tones. Dynamic, structured and bright, with sparkling trebles and a deep bass.
Negra or Blanca?
- Negra · rosewood
- Rosewood back and sides give volume and projection: a loud, deep, resonant flamenco sound that carries in a room or a group.
- Blanca · Spanish cypress
- The original flamenco guitar was born Blanca. Cypress gives a direct, bright sound, characteristic of Spain, with a sharp, percussive attack.
On every model: an ebony fingerboard for strength and stability, and real bone (not plastic) for better playability and intonation.
