José Yacopi Guitar – Argentina
José Yacopi was a Spanish-born luthier who established his workshop in Argentina, where he became one of the most respected guitar makers in South America. His instruments are known for their refinement, musicality, and distinctive voice shaped by both Spanish tradition and the rich musical culture of Argentina. Jacopi was awarded multiple international prizes for his work — proudly noted on his labels — confirming his place among the great makers of his time.
We are pleased to offer this beautiful and historic José Yacopi guitar, an instrument carrying both character and story.
This guitar previously belonged to an accomplished tango player in Argentina, and you can feel that history in every note. It is an instrument deeply connected to the sound world of Argentine music — intimate, expressive, and full of soul.
During a recent visit to Argentina, I personally selected and brought this guitar back, recognizing its special voice and potential. Since then, it has undergone a complete professional restoration: refretted, fully French polished, and carefully repaired where needed, including several cracks on the back. The work has been done with great respect for the instrument, preserving its character while bringing it back to its full musical life.
The guitar features a spruce top paired with Bolivian rosewood back and sides, a cedar neck, and retains its original tuners. The result is a warm, rich, and beautifully balanced sound.
Tonally, this instrument is mellow, lyrical, and deeply expressive, with a warm projection that suits both classical repertoire and South American styles such as tango and folk music. It has a singing quality, with clarity and depth, while remaining powerful and responsive.
This is not just a guitar — it is a piece of musical history, carrying the spirit of Argentina within it. An instrument for a player who values story, soul, and authenticity.
